Why blast before you paint
Paint only holds as well as the surface under it. Over rust, it lifts within a season or two, and the rust keeps working underneath where you can't see it.
Sandblasting fires abrasive at the surface with compressed air. It knocks off rust, mill scale and old paint and leaves clean metal with a slightly rough profile, which gives primer something to grab.
It also shows you the truth about a part. Pitting, cracks and old repairs are easy to hide under paint and easy to see on bare steel. Better to know before you put money into paint.

Questions we get
How much does sandblasting cost?
It depends on size, how much rust and paint there is, and the shape of the piece. Text photos to (717) 422-6600 and we'll give you a price.
Do I need to take anything off first?
Rubber, glass, wiring, bearings and anything you want to keep should come off, or be talked through with us first. Blast media gets everywhere.
Can you sandblast wood?
Yes. Blasting wood strips the soft grain and brings out the texture. You can see boards we've done in the gallery.
What about thin sheet metal?
Thin panels need a careful approach. Tell us what it is and we'll be straight about whether blasting is the right call.
How soon should I paint after blasting?
As soon as you can. Bare steel starts to flash rust quickly, especially in humid weather. We can prime and paint it for you.
